I always liked to draw as a child, but I lost motivation after high school. I enrolled at Owens Community College in Toledo, OH in 2013 and inadvertently rediscovered my passion for art. Attending an 'arts and humanities' class is expected of every incoming student, but instead of the intended sociology or philosophy course I took fundamentals of sculpture and realized I want to create artwork professionally. I have nearly completed my associates degree in fine arts, and I plan to continue my education. I particularly enjoy drawing, printmaking, oil and acrylic painting, and sculpture. My work is primarily realistic, and I am always practicing to increase the range of my abilities.
My most recent work has been an expression of my love for scientific knowledge, and the benefits it provides to our society. Carl Sagan perfectly conveys the idea: “Not explaining science seems to me perverse. When you're in love, you want to tell the world. My lifelong love affair with science.”
The title of my reductive relief print, "We Are The 99%", plays on the oft quoted-and correct-notion that humans and chimpanzees share around 99% of our DNA. I find the implications of that idea to be humbling and liberating."
