Michelle Bennett's work reflects an effort to channel memories and experiences onto the canvas. Imagery that operates in the vein of awareness, her paintings deal with imprints left on the mind and body. Each subject’s unease is uttered through their exposure and isolation, physically and mentally. There is a strength and vulnerability that is expressed throughout all the work.
Michelle was born in New York and has been exhibiting her work nationally receiving numerous awards including Outstanding Artist Award, Graduate Studies Dean’s Award, Graduate Assistant Studio Award and Best of Show in Stockton, California and Albany, New York. Currently living and working in Phoenix Arizona, she continues her exploration through painting after recently receiving her Master of Fine Arts degree from the State University of New York, at New Paltz. The process becomes a personal and painterly emotional roller-coaster reflecting life’s weight and struggles.
