I paint in the watercolor gouache, and acrylic on canvas mediums using a realistic style, the result of years as an industrial designer, and technical illustrator. There is art in design, and design in art. My art is primarily technical in nature, and I incorporate this element into fine art themes. Commissions of various modes of transportation, automobile art, and military art are the main focus of my paintings. The commissions generally require precision, and detail.
The acrylic on canvas painting for the ESAS Exhibition is titled "Diamondbacks". I was a member of the Air Force Art Program and had a back seat ride in an F-16 fighter jet from the 419th Fighter Wing (Diamondbacks). I captured this moment in a low altitude flight over the Wasatch Mountain Range in Utah. The late afternoon sun forms deep shadows that relate to the 3rd line of lyrics to America the Beautiful (For Purple Mountain Majesties). The spirit of the painting is the beauty of America, and it's awesome power.
